GATE is Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering which is conducted jointly by IISc and IITs.

Those who have completed Graduation in Engineering or Masters degree in Science or Statistics or Computer Applications are eligible to apply .

You should have atleast 60% marks in qualifying exam if you want to apply .

You have to give GATE exam in your academic subject which you have studied .

Those who qualify GATE will be given scorecard and will be eligible for further studies with stipend.

GATE score will also earn you JRF in various projects related to your field.

Most of the public sector undertakings like BHEL , GAIL , SAIL etc hire only GATE qualified students . Hence it will be good if you qualify GATE.

You can prepare for GATE through self study or if you want to join coaching then you can join a good coaching center.

In the end your hard work will matter.

Thumbs up Re: What is the eligibility criteria for GATE exam? Best method to achieve the goal?

Hello Friend,

GATE exam stand for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering and Technology. GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven IIT's (IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination Board GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.

The score is used for admissions to various post-graduate programmes (e.g. M.E., M.Tech, direct Ph.D.) in Indian higher education institutes with financial assistance provided by MHRD and other Government agencies. The score may also be used by Public sector units for employment screening purposes.

Eligibility

The following categories of candidates are eligible to appear in GATE:

1)Bachelor degree holders in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final year of such programmes.

2)Master degree holders in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.

1. Pick the easiest subject first and study topic wise instead of chapter wise. This will help you to gain confidence.

2. Concentrate on fundamentals instead of giving emphasis to the questions.

3. Make the note of important things that you cover in each topic, you can quickly do revision by reading the notes, than reading the books.

4. After completing each topic, do some questions, give emphasis on questions quality than quantity.

5. Try to cover 2-3 subjects in a month.

6. Take two subjects simultaneously, you wont get bored.

7. Discuss what you have studied your friends, if you are preparing alone then you can join online forums.

8. After you have completed the subject, solve all the previous years questions of that subject.

9. Join any good test series, do not join more than 2

10. Keep yourself relaxed, read inspiring articles ,watch good inspirational movies in between to relax and motivate yourself.

HOPE THIS HELPS YOU ...
GOOD LUCK ..

GATE Eligibility and http://thegateacademy.com/gate/gate-syllabus/ are two different ballgames altogether. While, a lot of people think that being a graduate in IT, engineering and Technology courses are sufficient, one must not forget that it is one of those competitive exams that requires a lot of help. There are some all in india guidance and GATE coaching centers that seem pretty legit and are quite useful for scoring well.
