hello,
biotechnology is the major knowledge based sector and contributes significantly
to shaping India's rapidly growing economy.
it is a recent development in the field of science &tech. it is the combination of biology
& technology and is an applied science

it is concerned with a variety of subjects including biochemistry, microbiology, genetics.

biotechnology has a wide range of application in :- agriculture
animal husbandry
development of medicine& vaccine
pollution control
waste management
energy production

the national laboratories operate under various dept. of govt. of India:- CSIR
ICAR
ICMR
DEPT. OF BIOTECHNOLOGY
all contributed to the emergence of biotechnology as major technological
area in the country.
