What is the role and responsibility of IT Officer?
I have Qualified in IBPS as a IT Officer in JMG S-I with 150 marks

Key Responsibilities: A. To ensure daily IT support to the Yangon team and field office: Act as the contact person with the Region Information System Manager (RISM) for all IT issues relating to the country programme. Ensure the reliability of the local communications system: e-mail & Internet. Take regular backups of all local data. Ensure that the virus protection software is installed on all machines & updated regularly. Provide first line software support to all in-country staff. Upgrade systems software as required. Provide first level hardware maintenance & upgrades. Keep an up to date inventory of all IT hardware & software. Maintain the Local Area Network. Manage contracts with external suppliers and service providers in IT purchasing. B. To supervise and facilitate training on IT for staff To provide IT induction to all in-country staff. To provide hands-on support / training whenever required. To provide training on E-mail and all software packages and to distribute training materials available from Information System Division (ISD) on all corporate systems. C. To supervise and facilitate training on IT for staff To assist the field office on management and maintenance of all computer systems, assessment of requirements on purchase of hardware/software for all the offices,and installation of updated software. To ensure that is done in coordination with RISM / ISD. To oversee installation of new versions of software in specified country offices and suboffices as directed by the Regional Management Centre (RCM) and Oxford (Information System Division). To submit an annual budget for IT costs for the Yangon office and project and to provide up-to-date expenditure incurred under this head. To suggest programme-wide specific expenditure for IT to be incorporated into annual budget processes with the most costeffective parameters for Oxfam. -Coordinates a variety of projects and/or activities for the purpose of ensuring compliance with established guidelines. -Designs technical courses for the purpose of training personnel in the use of computer applications. -Engineers computer networks for the purpose of providing reliable communication applications. -Maintains computer hardware and software applications through the use of service contractors for the purpose of ensuring availability of instructional materials and district operations. -Monitors fund balances of assigned programs and related financial activity for the purpose of ensuring that allocations are accurate, related revenues are generated, expenses are within budget limits and/or fiscal practices are followed. -Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions. -Performs personnel functions (e.g. interviewing, evaluating, supervising, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing, enhancing productivity of personnel and achieving objectives within budget. -Prepares a variety of materials (e.g. reports, memos, letters, procedures, manuals, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information. -Researches software applications and hardware requirements for the purpose of previewing products to provide recommendations regarding applications and purchases. -Responds to inquires for the purpose of providing information and/or direction. -Serves as liaison to software/hardware providers for the purpose of conveying and/or receiving information and coordinating district activities. |
