Re: What is the minimum qualification for IAS?
The term IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service. IAS officer is an important part of bureaucracy in India and plays important role in drafting and implementing the government policy.
Every year the Union Public Service Commission is given the responsibility to conduct entrance exam to recruit the IAS officer. The name of this exam is Civil Service Examination. Apart from IAS officer this exam also recruits IPS, IFS etc. As I mentioned earlier the role of IAS officer is very crucial. It plays very important role in the governance at the state level. The responsibility of implementing the government policy depends on the IAS officer. It is the job of IAS officer to do this on the district level. He/She also helps government craft the policy especially at a time when district is facing drought or floods situation. The valuable input from the IAS officer ultimately becomes the part of the policy decided by the government. Eligibility: 1. Only Indian citizens are allowed to appear for Civil Service Examination. NRIs are also welcomed to appear for the exam. 2.The minimum qualification requirement is graduation degree in any stream. Age Criteria Candidate must be at least 21 years old and should not exceed 30 years to appear in the exam. The age limit for Other Backward Class (OBC) is increased by 3 years to 21 to 33 years. SC/ST candidates get 5 years relaxation in upper age limit. Number of Attempts: General - 4 OBC - 7 SC/ST - There is no limit on number of attempts for the SC/ST candidates. Exam Pattern: 1. Preliminary Exam. 2. Main Exam 3. Interview |
