I understand your situation. If you have to take education loan, you would want to make sure that you get a job as soon as you complete the graduation.
Biomedical Engineering is one of the fastest growing sectors in the world. US labor department has put it is the most desired list and predicts 72 per cent growth in this sector for next 10 years. The aim of Biomedical Engineerin is to provide tools that helps the doctors in diagnosis and treatment of several medical conditions. To make it simple, you need asthama inhalers, artificial hearts, MRI etc. Who is going to develop these and several other medical equipments for you. The answer is pretty simple - Biomedical Engineer. As far employment is concerned. There are total of 14,000 biomedical engineers in India and most of them are employed. Which is good thing. Most jobs are available in Medical equipment Supplies Manufacturing Other large sectors that are hiring biomedical engineers in India are: Pharamaceutical Medicine Manufacturing R & D Centers Surgical Hospitals Cellular Pathology Diagnostic Centers Virology Some of the companies you can bank on to get job after Biomedical Engineering are: GE SIEMENS BAYER RELIANCE LIFE SCIENCES BHARAT -SERUM BIOCON So you may want to know what does the future looks like for Biomedical Engineering. I am sure you are worried about decline in Economy. Well others areas of Engineering may see some decline in the upcoming years. Biomedical Engineering growth is only going Northwards. The Bureau of Labor Stastics has predicted 21 per cent growth in Biomedical Engineering related jobs by 2016 which is a good thing. However there is a catch. You see some believe that jobs prospects are good only if you complete Masters degree in Biomedical Engineering. The opportunities only after B.Tech are probably not enough at the moment. It does not mean that there aren't any jobs but the future is more secure if you do M.Tech as well. In any circumstances you should expect to get good job starting from Rs 20,000 to Rs.30,000 in a medical equipment manufacturing company. Private hospitals and clinics are willing to pay somewhere between Rs 15,000 to 25,000 to biomedical engineers. |
