Re: What is the selection procedure for SC/ST candidates for IAS exam?
The selection procedure of IAS Officer for candidates belonging to SC/ST category is the same as it is for candidates belonging to General Category, OBC category etc. Candidates belonging to any category has to qualify Civil Service Examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission. The examination comprise of two stages of written test and an interview. The pattern of the written test as well as its syllabus is common for candidates belonging to any category. However, Union Public Service Commission does provide relaxation in maximum age limit for candidates belonging to SC/ST and OBC category. Specifically for SC/ST category the maximum age limit is relaxed upto 5 years. Hence, candidates from this particular category may apply for Civil service Examination upto the age of 35 years.
