After passing B.Tech you can apply for many govt. job like:-

> I.E.S
> ARMY
> NAVY
> AIR FORCE
> D.R.D.O

> O.N.G.C
etc

you can go for both software & core fields, it depends on your interest , but you should preparation different types for both field.
If you want to go for a software field you must be knowledge of C, C++, JAVa, Dot Net and other language any of them.
For core field your technical concept should be good and some additional courses like VLSI certification, RF engg., C-MOs, mat etc. is necessary to take good initial.
