Literature: Sully Prudhomme (Rene Francois Armand)

Peace: Jean Henri Dunant and Fredieric Passy

Physics: Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen

Physiology and Medicine: Emil Adolf Von Hehring

Chemistry: Jacobus Henricus Van’t Hoff


In 1969, the first Nobel Prize was awarded for Economics to Ragnar Frisch and Jan Tinbergen.

six noble awards were awarded at the first noble award ceremony on 1901
peace noble to "frederic passy" and "henry dunant"
physics noble to "wilhelm conrad rontgen"
chemistry noble to "jacobus van't hoff"
literature noble to "rene F.A. Sully Prudhomme"
and medicine nobel to "emil von behering"
other than that "rabindranath tagore"(from india) was the first asian to win a noble prize in literature

The first Nobel Prize is given in 1901 and then it is going on to the current days. It is given department-wise. In 1901 the great Nobel Prize is given in the following four department which are given below :

1. Physics,
2. Chemistry,
3. Medicine,
4. Literature, and
5. Peace.

THE NOBEL PRIZE IN PHYSICS - Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen.

THE NOBEL PRIZE IN CHEMISTRY - Jacobus Henricus van 't Hoff.

THE NOBEL PRIZE IN PHYSIOLOGY OR MEDICINE - Emil Adolf von Behring.

THE NOBEL PRIZE IN LITERATURE - Sully Prudhomme.

Its not one person who was awarded Nobel prize to be crowned as the first person to get the Nobel prize but a set of 5 person won the Nobel prize which started for the first time on 1901.

-> Initially the concept of Nobel Prize - International award for cultural and scientific advancement was started on 1895 by Alfred Nobel ( inventor of dynamite ) and the first awards for Physics, Chemistry, Literature, Medicine and Peace was given on 1901.

-> The laureates who got the first Nobel awards on 1901 as follows...


-> Physics - Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen.

-> Chemistry - Jacobus H. van 't Hoff.

-> Literature - Sully Prudhomme.

-> Medicine - Emil Adolf von Behring.

The first year to announce the Noble Prizes is 1901. In that year the award was achieved by 6 members in 5 different fields. They are

1. PHYSICS - Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen

The first women who won the nobel prize was Marie Curie, who won it in 1903 (for Physics) and again in 1911 (for Chemistry)
