Generally it is very important to score 55% or more at graduation to level to pursue this course since that is the minimum eligibility criteria of most of the colleges. You get to better that marks further in the exams they conduct to choose the best students. Since most of the colleges publishes merit list based on the marks you have got in the exam plus your college result therefore you might get a beating there as students with good marks will have an edge over you.

Still there are lots of colleges where you can still apply and make amends for your marks by scoring good in the entrance examination. Some of the private institutions also provides direct admission as well.

MCA is a three years course and gives you a direct entry to the software companies and therefore is in great demand right now with many students opting for this course at both graduation and PG level.

At the final year you get to specialize in one subject. Be very choosy about it and go with the subject which is in demand. Some subjects you can opt for are as follows:

>>Software Development

>>Networking

>>Telecom

>>Database Administration

>>SAP implementation

Following are the top MCA institutions in India:-

Banaras Hindu University
Bharathiar University - Coimbatore
Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS)
Delhi University
Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)
Jawaharlal Nehru University
MN National Institute of Technology (NIT)-Allahabad
Vellore Institute Of Technology
Punjab University
Madurai Kamaraj University
