Hi friend,

Though you have done exceptionally well in 10th and graduation, your 12th percentage will create trouble for you. I am sorry to say that you may not get seat in IIMs.

I explain you, how it works:-

-Basically, IIMs decide certain cutoff for their institute based on CAT score, this varies institute to institute.

-Now due to cut -throat competition , after shortlisting students based on CAT, they need to more filter the students, due to lack of seat.

-So, now they have given weightage to each 10th ,12th ,graduation , work experiment and for some extra ordinary achievement.

-So, by combining all these weightage , they further short list the students. and they issues call letter for Group discussion or written exam.

>>so,here your low percentage will create trouble for you and you may not get seat.All other institutes follows the same.


Due to this tough competition,even you score well in CAT,then also there is less chance of you to get call letter from IIMs.

But,don't lose hope.you have good academics,you will certainly make it to other good institutes.

although you performed well in all three level exams namely X , XII, GRADUATION
Although you are not having excellent record but still having decent percentage of marks.

Whether I can get calls from top IIM'S Or not ?

surely, all academic record counts but you need to understand that CAT cut-offs are divided as per following

• class X
• class XII
• GRADUATION
• CAT - EXAM
• INTERVIEW
• GROUP DISCUSSION

most of the percentage count is based on

• CAT exam
• interview
• group discussion

no,you can not get a chance to join top IIMs only depends on your previous result.you should to write CAT exam.if you make atleast 99.50% in CAT exam then you have a chance to join IIMs.

hello! i have 70% in 10th, 63% in intermediate, 54% in degree, 70% in MCA. having teaching experience. can i get seat in iim's.

I'm in my 12th grade right now. And currently, my Board exams are going on. I was in CBSE till 10th and got a CGPA of 9.6. Later, I changed to State Board(Intermediate 1st and 2nd years). In the state board, they take the average of 11th and 12th grade's marks(or rather Percentage). I got around 90% in my First Year(11th grade) and I'm not quite sure how much I'm going to get this year.
Are these 10th, 11th and 12th marks really important for the future? Is it okay if I get an average of 90% after combining both 11th and 12th. (Though I hope to get good marks this year, Math 2b is my weak point. Also, just like last year...I'm touching my books just the day before the exam.)
Please tell me that Board marks(or grades) are not that important. :/

As per the criteria

You need to have graduation (UGC recognised) with atleast 50% marks or 45% for SC/ST

Your marks are good and which makes you eligible for CAT entrance exam.
However, you wont get call based on these marks

You will have to appear for CAT exam and score good percentile.
If you are able to score good percentile (98+) then you would get calls from few IIMs.
