IPS stands for Indian Police Services. UPSC conducts Civil Services examination for different services like IAS, IRS, IPS, IFS etc.

Eligibility criteria for Civil Services examination:

>>Candidate must have done bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Final year candidates of bachelor's degree can also apply for examination. Minimum of passing percentage of marks in bachelor's degree is required.

>>The minimum age limit required to apply for Civil Services examination is 21 years. Upper age limit for this examination is 32 years. Three years upper age relaxation to OBC candidates and five years to SC/ST candidates.

Those candidates who have completed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university are eligible for IPS exam.

Your age should be in between 21 years to 32 years for general candidates. Age relaxation is given below -

5 years relaxation for SC/ST candidates
3 years relaxation for OBC Candidates
10 years relaxation for PHC candidates
5 years relaxation for Ex-serviceman

Number of Attempts:-

For open category:- 7 attempts
For OBC category:- 9 attempts
For SC/ST category:- No limit
