What is the difference between income tax job offered by UPSC and SSC?

What is the difference between exams for income tax conducted by both SSC and UPSC? Which one we prefer or go to both exams together or not?

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) recruits Gazetted Officer posts in Income Tax and Staff Selection Commission (SSC) recruits Non-Gazetted Officer posts in Income Tax. It is the main difference between the UPSC recruitment and SSC recruitment. The Income Tax Commissioner post is recruited through UPSC and UPSC Officers are responsible for making policies and SSC Officers follow them. Salary for the Officer recruited through UPSC is higher compared to the SSC Officer. Through SSC Grade B, C, D employees are recruited.

UPSC will help you get job in IRS, which is the revenue department and it will be a grade A level job and you will be a gazetted officer.

SSC conducts exam for only group B level jobs in Income tax department, which is not equal to an officer level job. You can choose according to your aim. Both are government jobs and you must try for both, but UPSC is definitely better than SSC.

Candidates after qualifying for UPSC examination will become eligible for recruitment as an IRS Officer.

SSC also conduct entrance examination but, you are not eligible for the recruitment as an I.R.S Officer.

If you have better preparation for both examination, you can appear for the examination.

UPSC conducts Civil Service Examination for recruitment as an Officer. CGL is examination by SSC.

For detail information about examination visit at www.upsc.gov.in.
