I am a product designing student (b.des). I wanted to know if i can opt for b.des as an optional subject?

No, it is not possible. B.Des subjects are not available under the optional subjects list. You have to opt for subjects from Optional subjects of IAS examination. I have mentioned below the list of optional subjects available in IAS examination.
