Re: Can I select management subject in mains exam of IAS if I have selected Public Administration as optional in prelims?
yes you can select any one of the management subject but it will be better if you select the subjects from which you are graduating because it will be easier for you to score in it more marks.
but if you don't have management subject in your graduation then you should go for coaching . |

ya sure you can select management subjects in main exam because it is quite easy and more useful if you passed the exam and it will be a guide line to you to implement as IAS officer in taking management decisions

Re: Can I select management subject in mains exam of IAS if I have selected Public Administration as optional in prelims?
Yeah of course you have the chance to select like that
Public administration is best for you and regarding selections of optionals you should give the max importance to your interest because you have to spend a lot of time in studying your selected subjects if you don't have interest in what you have selected then it will become mere waste in ..you will be suffered with boredom so don't listen anyone's suggestion go through the syllabus and topics of each and every optional select the subject in which you are most attracted and have a 80% interested topics in the syllabus this is how you have to select the optionals this should be your target and you have to rock the preparation time interestingly not boringly so if you are interested then select that if every one says even it is the toughest one .. this is all the opinion of my friends who are preparing for the same Take the guidance of successful and unsuccessful candidates Regards ~aditya~ |

Re: Can I select management subject in mains exam of IAS if I have selected Public Administration as optional in prelims?
Rules have been changed.
The Exam is basically divided into two parts... 1. Preliminary 2. Main In Preliminary, 2 papers are there... Each paper carry 200 marks and duration is 2 hours. In main exam you have to select the optional subjects from the following: Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Commerce and Accountancy, Economics, Electrical Engineering, Geography, Geology, History, Law, Management, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science and International Relations, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology, Statistics, Zoology. Literatures: Arabic, Assamese, Bengali, Chinese, English, French, German, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Marathi, Malayalam, Manipuri, Nepali, Oriya, Pali, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu. Any two subjects (each having 2 papers) to be selected from the prescribed optional subjects. Each paper is of 3 hours duration. The following combinations are not allowed: Political Science & International Relations and Public Administration Commerce and Management Anthropology and Sociology Maths and Statistics Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science Management and Public Administration Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science and Medical Science Any two branches of engineering. Combination of two literatures in the above list. So according to new rules, Management and Public Administration are not allowed as optional subjects in main. |

Re: Can I select management subject in mains exam of IAS if I have selected Public Administration as optional in prelims?
Hi Friends,
I am totally confused about selection of my subjects for UPSC (Mains) 2012. Pl. Guide me... I am an MBA and will be appearing for exam in 2012. Management seems to be my forte as majority of the topics are already read...but there are topics in which I am totally new. Also, I don't have much Idea about the coaching institutes for management in Delhi or Complete study material for management. Apart from that....what second subject I should choose....options I have ..1....History ( ..But I don't rate my memory too good)..2..English (Lit.)..(But I don't have very polised style of writing//also, choosing this option could be beneficial in preparing compulsory subjects)..3...Public Administration ( Totally new subject for me//Also, not a valid combination with management)..4...Sociology..(completely new subject for me...)...5....Economics ..( Partly new....syllabus...seems very lengthy) ... Pl. guide my way out of this dilemma.. Regards, Shantanu |
