The admission to Master of Technology in Indian Institute of Technology or National Institute of Technology is given through rank or scorecard of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering which is conducted every year.

Second most important thing you must know that there is no age limit to appear for GATE exam and also there is no limit on number of attempts in GATE exam. So, from these two valid reasons you can conclude that it is not necessary to get admission in IIT or NIT in M.Tech after 2-3 years of bachelor's degree.

However, it is advisable not to have larger gap between bachelor's degree and master's degree.

There is no such rule that a candidate need to apply for Master of Technology in IIT or NIT after graduation in 2-3 years time.

You can apply for for GATE exam at any age and there is no such limit on number of attempts. So, you can apply for M.Tech even 4-5 years after graduation.
Do you have any question? or have anything to say?
