Hello,
I want to know that is it compulsory to clear CSIR-UGC-NET exam to do PhD? Can I do PhD without clearing entrance exam of NET? Please provide me full details regarding this topic and please also give me the college details which allow us to do PhD in Mathematics without NET qualification?

NET/SLET/JRF/GATE is a desirable qualification for Ph.D admission and if you have it then excellent, if not, then you have to appear for other entrance exam which is mainly conducted by the University concerned in most cases. In top Universities most of the Ph.D seats are are taken away by students who have NET/SLET/JRF/GATE scores and rest if available goes to other students.

I have done my masters in mathematics in distance mode with 69.6% marks.As I have done it from distance mode,will it be a hindrance or considered as negative point for being a permanent assistant lecturer even after qualifying net???? And my 2nd question is ,if I don't pursue PhD in my subject then can't I be the permanent lecturer in the college or university? Will I only be the guest lecturer then?
