I am doing M.Sc in Agriculture and after that I will surely do PhD in same specialization. I want to know that UGC-NET-JRF is essential for doing PhD? Without JRF it is not possible?

You are doing M.Sc course in Agriculture so you are eligible for Ph.D course but you must qualify in CSIR NET exam.

Those candidates who have completed masters degree from a recognized university are eligible for CSIR NET exam. General and OBC candidates should hold 55% and above marks in masters degree. For SC/ST candidate its 50% and above in masters degree.

Your age should be below 28 years.

Most of the Institutes conduct their own entrance examination in order to allow candidates to get admission in Ph.D course, therefore in those Institutes you will probably have to get admission by simply clearing the Institutes entrance examination.

However, in rest of the cases you will probably have to clear UGC-NET examination in order to get admission to Ph.D course. And I am sorry to say that you cannot get admission in those Institutes which provide admission on the basis of UGC-NET examination without actually qualifying it.
