Can I go for M.Tech in Bioinformatics after doing B.Tech in Biotechnology? If yes, then how exactly and which IIT are offering M.Tech programme in Bioinformatics?

Engineering Degree holder in Bioinformatics specialization or it's equivalent qualification are eligible to join M.Tech in Bioinformatics. Admission to this course is done through entrance exam such as, GATE, VITMEE, SRMEEE, TANCET etc. GATE is one of the National level entrance exam, which is accepted by most of the Engineering colleges in India (www.gate.iisc.ernet.in).

You are doing B.Tech in Biotechnology so after completion of B.Tech degree, you eligible for M.Tech in Bioinformatics through GATE exam.

IIT Kgp provides M.Tech in Bioinformatics course.

GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering.

If you have Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or Architecture/Design or its equivalent or masters degree in science department then are eligible for GATE exam.

There are no restriction for attempts in GATE exam.You can apply any number of time. There is no age criteria but your minimum age must be above 18 years.

To do mtech in bioinformatics after completing btech in biotechnology.With which branch gate exam should be given , which one is better???

after doing btech in bioinformatics i want to pursue for mtech or ms but related to research oriented and not data based . kindly suggest which line should i need to opt

M.Tech in Bioinformatics Eligibility criteria:-

Candidates must have a graduation degree in Biotech/Bioinformatics/B.tech/B.E/Math and Science are eligible for this.

Duration for this course is 2 year
