JOB PROFILE AND STARTING SALARY OF A SOFTWARE DEVELOPER:

As a software developer your job profile is to CODE software's and build them. You should be knowledgeable and skilled in all the basic programming languages like C, C++ and Java. Most of the time in service companies things would not be like start coding in the first day, companies like TCS, Wipro, Accenture etc. would have projects which doesn't require much of Coding skills but then those things will not add up to your resume experience because as in when you try to jump to bigger product companies like Microsoft, Nokia, Ericsson etc. they will require candidates who are skilled in Coding.

The starting salary for a freshers as software developer in service companies (TCS, Wipro, Satyam etc.) would be around 3.0 - 4.0 Lakhs and in product companies (Alcatel, Nokia, Amazon etc.) would be around 4.5 - 6.0 Lakhs and even more bigger product companies like Google, Microsoft will provide 5.5 - 9.0 Lakhs.
