The designation as well as role in different companies you get is based on the vertical as well as project you have been assigned for.
There are many domain in the core companies, they are:

1. production support.
2. Development.
3. Enhancement.
4. Optimization.
5. Customer help desk.

** So, based on the above vertical you will be assigned role.
