The full marks of the paper are 100. There are three sections in the question paper, the students have to attempt two sections from Section I, the questions are to be answered in 600 words and has 20 marks each, from Section II, the candidates have to attempt any 4 questions, these questions have to be answered in about 300 words and carry 10 marks each, while from the last section the candidate has to answer four short note type questions of 5 marks each, they have to be written in about 150 words. Some of the important topics from Section I are Consumer Dispute, legislations protecting consumers interest in India, Consumer Protection Act, 1986, Banking ombudsman Scheme, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), its importance and functions, Central Consumer Protection Council, etc. From the second section important topics are HACCP (Food Hygienic - Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), CPA 1986, its limitations, Fundamental Right to Trade, Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, Weights and Measures Act, 1976, Ecological issues etc. In the third section short notes come on topics such as Duties of Consumers, Right to Safety, Codex Alimentarius, Essential Commodities Act, 1955, International Organisation of Consumers Unions (IOCU), Right to Safety, WTO and India, Trans National Corporations (TNC) etc.
