Can I join Indian Military Academy being a 12th candidate? I have completed 12th with 70% marks from the Central Board of Secondary Education?

You can join Indian Military Academy after 10+2 by clearing National Defence Academy entrance exam.

The eligibility criteria for NDA exam:

Candidate must have done 10+2 from any recognized board. For Indian Army, you can apply for NDA exam with any stream in 10+2.

Age limit is 16.5-19.5 years. Only male candidates are allowed to apply.

*At Senior Secondary Level, NDA or Technical Entry Scheme are two options through which you can get admission in Indian Military Academy. For NDA examination, you must be unmarried male and your age should be between 16.5-19.5 years.

*For Technical Entry Scheme, candidates are shortlisted on basis of percentage of marks in PCM in 10+2. You can apply for exam at http://joinindianarmy.nic.in. If your percentage of marks is more than cut off marks, you will be called for Service Selection Board and those who clear it are eligible for IMA.

For joining Indian Military Academy you need to become a graduate with maths as one of the subjects. Entry is possible only through CDS exam.

On the basis of class 12th you can only join NDA or NA through exam which is conducted by UPSC. Age limit for this exam is 16.5 to 19 years and candidate should be unmarried male.

Yes, you are eligible to join Indian Military Academy after completion of your 12th standard with an aggregate of 70% marks from a recognised board. To be eligible to join in Indian Military Academy, you need to appear in NDA examination which is conducted by UPSC twice a year. Eligibility criteria required to appear in NDA examination is mentioned below :-

1. You must be a citizen of India.

2. You must be in between 16 1/2 to 19 1/2 years of age.

3. You must have completed 12th standard or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics subjects from a recognised board.

4. You must be an Unmarried Male candidate.

5. You must be Physically fit as per physical standards mentioned in the UPSC NDA examination notification.

Yes, you can join Indian Military Academy once you have cleared NDA examination. However, in order to be eligible to appear for NDA, you should have completed your 12th class from a recognized board and your age should be in between 16.5-19.5 years.
