CLAT is for admission in law degree courses and there are two types of courses available, one for class 12th candidates and other for graduates. You can apply for any one of them, according to your qualification.

Therefore, it is up to you to decide which category is suitable for you and apply accordingly. Admission will be on the basis of performance in the entrance exam and seats are allotted through counselling.

CLAT stands for Common Law Admission Test. Candidates who wish to pursue LLB course generally appear in CLAT examination. If you are interested to pursue your higher studies in law related courses like BA LLB, B.SC. LLB, B.Com LLB, etc., then, you need to appear in CLAT examination else, there is no need to appear in CLAT examination.

CLAt examination is only mandatory if you wish to get admission in LLB course after completion of your 12th board examination and also you can opt for the above mentioned examination after your graduation. Therefore, if you wish to opt for LLB course in future, you should very much prepare for CLAT examination as the better you score in the entrance, the better college you get admission in to pursue with your career ahead.
