I have passed my 10th WBBSE from Bengali Medium school.
If I would like to join in Indian Navy what will be my eligibility?

No, you cannot join in Indian Navy after completion of your 10th standard. The minimum educational qualification required to join in Indian Navy is completion of 12th standard or equivalent from a recognised board. To join in Indian Navy, you need to appear in NDA examination which is conducted by UPSC twice a year. Eligibility criteria required to appear in NDA examination is mentioned below :-

1. You must be a citizen of India.

2. You must have completed 12th standard or equivalent with Mathematics and Physics subjects from a recognised board.

3. You must be in between 16.5 to 19 years old.

4. You must be an Unmarried Male candidate.

5. You must be Physically fit as per physical standards mentioned in the UPSC NDA examination notification.

You are not eligible for Indian Navy after 10th standard. You should have passed 12th standard from a recognized university atleast to join Indian Navy.

You have to apply NDA exam which is conducted by UPSC twice in a year to join defense services. Your age should be between 16.5-19 years.


Only unmarried male candidates are eligible for NDA exam. You must be physically as well as mentally fit. You have to clear a written exam of General English, Knowledge and Mathematics.

After clearing this written exam, you will be called for SSB Interview. Last stages is Medical test.

To join Indian navy , it is necessary for a student to appear in NDA examination.

NDA stands for National Defence Academy.
NDA examination in conducted by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission) twice a year in the month of April and September to select students in
-Indain Navy
-Indian Military
-Indain Air Force and

Eligibility criteria for applying to NDA examination are
-Candidate must be a unmarried male.
-Candidate maust be a citizen of India.
-Candidate must passed 12th or equivalent examination in Physics,Chemistry and Mathematics with minimum of 60% marks.
-Candidates appearing in 12th or equivalent examination are also eligible.
-Candidate must be of age 16.5-19 years.

So, you need to take admission in 11th standard with Physics,Chemistry,Mathematics as main subjects .
Generally students attend the age of 16.5 years at the time of appearin in 12th examination ,so, they can apply at the time of appearing.

No you are not eligible to apply for the Indian Navy now. To join the Indian Navy you have to qualify in the NDA entrance examination which is conducted by the UPSC twice in a year.

The eligibility to apppear for the NDA examination is candidate who have passed or pursuing the 10+2 board from any recognised board with PCM and English as main subject can apply. The candidate age must be between 16.5-19 years.

No you are not eligible to for the Indian Navy being a class 10th student of WB board. As the basic eligibility to join the Indian Navy is 10+2 candidate who have passed or pursuing it from a recognised board with PCM as main subjects can apply.

As if you completed your 10th standard that doesn't means that you are eligible to join indian defense. You need to fulfill their eligibility criteria for applying to join them. Basically age limit for joining indian defense is between 16 1/2 to 28 years. Thus your age will be in between of this age limit.

Also you need to fulfill their qualification requirement which is 12th standard atleast to join indian defense through any entry scheme. There are many entry scheme to join indian defense like NDA, Technical Entry for 12th passed students, CDS, UES, TGC, OTA etc. Different entries require different qualification and physical standards.

so, first of all complete your studies and also start preparing yourself for indian defense as if you really want to join it.

You have completed 10th standard so you are not eligible for Indian Navy exam. But after completion of 11th standard you are eligible for Indian Navy exam through NDA exam.

NDA stands for National Defence Service exam. NDA Examination is conducted for 3 wings-Indian Air Force, Indian Navy and Indian Army.

The candidate's who have completed the 12th standard from a recognized board or equivalent exam are eligible for NDA exam. Final year of 12th standard candidate are eligible for NDA exam.

Your age should be in between to 16.5 years to 19.5 years. There is no age relaxation for SC/ST candidates.

Eligibility to Join in Indian Navy:

* The minimum education qualification to join in Indian navy is 10+2 or its equivalent from recognized Board/University.

* Basically there are two ways to join in the Indian Navy, the two exams were conducted by the UPSC every year. The two exams are given below.

1. NDA- National Defence Academy
2. CDS- Combined Defence

Eligibility to appear in NDA Exam

1. The candidate must have completed 12th with PCM.
2. Age of the candidate must be between 16.5 to 19 years.

Eligibility to appear in CDS exam

1. The candidate must have completed his/her graduation.
2. Age should be between 19-22 years.

According to the above information the minimum educational qualification is 12th standard. But you have completed your 10th, so your not eligible to appear in NDA exam. If you are willing to join in Indian Navy then you need to complete minimum of 12th standard.

Yes, you can join Indian navy after completion of 10th class as a Sailors only through Metric Entry Recruitment Exam. Indian Navy Sailors Metric Entry Recruitment Exam is held twice a year

Eligibility Conditions:
- Must have passed Matric or equivalent with 55% or above marks in Science and Math's with minimum 55% marks in Matric and have got 55% or above marks in any higher board examination with Science and Math's.
- Your age limit must be in between 17-20 years on the 1 st January or 1 st August of the year of examination.
-Male unmarried Indian citizens are eligible.

Physical Standards:
-Weight correlated to height and proportionate chest with minimum expansion of 5 cms.
-Good medical and physical health, free from any disease/disability.
-No cardio-vascular, surgical deformities or infection of ear. No history of fits or psychiatric ailment.
-Minimum height: 157 cm.
-Minimum eye standard: Without glasses better eye 6/6 and worse 6/9.
-Color perception: CP II.

Selection will be done on the basis of written test

Mathematics
General Knowledge

Since you have just finished your 10th, you are eligible to join Navy as a sailor under Metric entry.
If you know music then you can also join navy as a musician.
If you know to cook then you can join as a cook too.

But if you finish your 12th then you can join under SSR(secondary sailor recruitment). That will be a sailor entry too.

However if you take up sciences in your 12th then you can join the Indian Navy as an officer by writing NDA and NA exam conducted by UPSC.
I recommend you to join Navy as an officer. So complete your 12th with science and appear for NDA.
