i am 12th pass and 18 years old. My aim is to join indian army after passing 12th,and it is my father's aim also ...... plz suggest me the way to how can i join indian army ... i am a girl but i want to prove that girls can do more than the boys.I want to do something for my country. So plz give me the direction to join an army.

In order get admission in Indian Army you have to attend for the exams conducted by UPSC.

But girls can be selected for only Short service commissions whose service is for a maximum period of 13years only. For this you have to apply for the CDS exam which is conducted by UPSC twice every year in February and august.

To be eligible for CDS exam, bachelor's degree from any recognised university is a must.
So for now you have no chances for joining in the Indian Army.

As this year's CDS-I exam is already over and the last date for applying CDS-II exam is also over.

you can apply for the CDS exam when you are in final year of your Bachelor's degree also, by providing the required certificates of proof that you are currently studying final year.

But I would like to inform you, girls are not eligible for the NDA examination,. This examination is only for the MALE candidates.

Through Nda exam one can apply for all the combatant branches of the Indian army , which is ---

1. INDIAN AIR FORCE (IAF)
2. NAVAL ACADEMY
3. INDIAN MILITARY ACADEMY (IMA)

NDA (national defence academy) examination, which is conducted by the UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION (UPSC) after 12th exam for twice in a year.

Educational requirements for NDA --

A candidates must required at least a 12th degree from the recognized board. If you are a IAF & NA aspirant , you must have subjects Physics & MATHS in 12th with at least 60% (aggregate).
Otherwise you can only apply for the INDIAN MILITARY ACADEMY (IMA)




But nevertheless , Girls can be eligible only for the INDIAN ARMY just after graduation, even the final year students are eligible for the Examination commonly known as COMBINED DEFENCE SERVICE EXAMINATION (CDS).
Through CDS exam one can apply for all the combatant branches of the Indian army , which is ---

1. INDIAN AIR FORCE (IAF)
2. NAVAL ACADEMY
3. INDIAN MILITARY ACADEMY (IMA)

The educational requirements for the CDS examination is a gradation degree,.If you are a IAF & NA aspirant , you must have subjects Physics & MATHS in graduation with at least 60% (aggregate).
Otherwise you can only apply for the INDIAN MILITARY ACADEMY (IMA).

Age limit for --

IAF -19-23 YEARS
NA - 19-22 YEARS
IMA - 19-25 YEARS.

Iam sorry to say this you are not eligible for Indian arm after completion of 12th standard, actually after completion of 12th standard the only way for Defence services is NDA(National Defence Academy) exam, but Girls are totally not eligible for NDA exam, so you are not eligible for NDA.


Eligibility criteria:-

The candidate should be complete 12th standard from a recognised board of indici

Any stream candidates are eligible for indian army.

Candidate must be a citizen of india and candidate must be physically fit.

To join Indian Army after 12,there is an entrance test conducted by UPSC.But this test is only for boys.Girls cannot appear in NDA entrance test.

To join Indian Army ,you have to do your graduation.

After Graduation,You can apply for the CDS exam to join Army

CDS stands for Combined Defence Service

For the exam ,
~ Age should be between 19-24 years
~ You should have completed Graduation from a recognised university
~ You must be a citizen of india
~ Height: for girls:153cm(minimum)

~Eye-vision: 6/6 or 6/12(with or without spectacles free from color or night blindness)

How to join Indian Army

Although after passing 12th..the best way to join the ranks of the Indian Army is to go through the National Defence Academy(NDA) but that exam is meant only for unmarried male candidates..

However..if you really wish to join the Indian Army then you can appear for the Combined Defence Services (CDS) Exam which is conducted in the months of February and September every year..

A candidate is eligible to appear for the CDS Exam if :-

> candidate is within the age limit of :-

> 19-22 years for Indian Naval Academy
> 19-23 years for Indian Air Force
> 19-24 years for Indian Military Academy
> 19-25 years for Officer's Training Academy

> candidate must also have completed graduation from a recognized University..

Candidates are tested on the basis of 3 papers each carrying 100 marks based on :-

Wellyes my friend you can join the indian army. Log onto www.indianarmy.nic.in i.e the official website for indian army. Every year the 10+2 TES entry scheme permanent commision application is posted which is around in mid april. Always remain updated. All other necessary updates and information regarding your passion will be availabe on the prescribed website.
You may also apply for NDA exam which is held twice in a year.

Yes Off Course ,, there is no issue with your educational qualification .....

But , Being Female candidate your not eligible for NDA Entrance Examination..

Only Unmarried Male candidates are eligible for NDA Entrance Examination ..

So, as per the NDA eligibility Criteria your not eligible for NDA Entrance Examination..

After completing 12th one can join army, only after writing NDA exam.

NDA - National Defence Academy.

But as per the eligibility criteria of NDA, only unmarried male candidates can write the exam.

Girls can join Army only through writing CDS exam.

CDS - Combined Defence Services (CDS)

This Examination is for the recruitment of various vacancies under Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officers Training Academy.

Eligibility Criteria:

Nationality - citizen of India.

Educational Qualification:

(i) For I.M.A. and Officers’ Training Academy: Degree of a recognized University or equivalent.

(ii) For Indian Naval Academy: Degree in Engineering.

(iii) For Air Force Academy: Degree of a recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.

Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to CDS.

So you can serve our nation, after finishing your degree.

You cannot join Indian airforce just after passing class 12th to become a fighter pilot

After class 12th NDA exams are conducted to get entry and Girls are not allowed to apply for the NDA

But after Graduation you can apply for the AFCAT exams

You can apply for the Flying Branch if you meet the below eligibilty


Education- Graduates in any stream with Minimum 60% marks and should have studies the subjects Physics and Maths in class 12th or BE/BTECH Pass with minimum 60% marks


Age- between 19 to 23 years

It is really nice taht you are thinking of joining Indian Defence.

But you cannot apply fr Indian defence right now, because girls cannot apply for Indian Army.

Moreover, girls cannot give NDA exams. Girls can only give CDS exams.

OTA – Officer’s Training Academy.

OTA is the only exam, through which you can join Indian Defence.

OTA is one of the wing which can be joined after qualifying CDS exam.

Eligibility for CDS exam ~~

You should be a graduate from a recognised university.

Your age should be between 19 years to 24 years.

You should be unmarried.

The CDS exam is conducted in three stages –

only unmarried male candidates with age category 16.5 to 19 years are eligible.

yours and fathers aim can be full filled if you apply for CDS exam..
it is common defence exam..
females can apply for it.

the eligibility for CDA is

* a graduation from any recognized university.

there are three different field in which you can apply, they are:

* Indian air force
* Naval academy
* Indian military academy.

you can apply for these.
the age criteria for them are different.

* Indian air force - 19 to 23 years.

You have to complete your graduation for entering in Indian Army. Lady Officers proceed for training after clearing the CDS exam to Officers Training Academy. They get commissioned into the various Arms and Services of the Indian Army after 49 weeks training. For the eligibility part, they need to be a graduate to apply. According to the revised conditions of Service of SSCOs (Men and Women both Technical and Non-Technical), tenure of Short Service Commission in Army will be granted for 14 years. On completing two years’ service, they pick up the rank of Captain followed by Major on completion of 6 years’ service. After 13 years of service, they pick up the rank of LT.Col.
