Most of the colleges operating in this city are coming under the jurisdiction of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya and this university holds the pride of being one among the oldest universities in India. Medical College:

Government Ashtang Ayurved College was established by the Brahma Charya Ashram Trust in the year 1921 and the college got affiliation from Devi Ahilya University in the year 1964. Later in the year 1972, the college was taken over by the Government of Madhya Pradesh and gave its present name and it got autonomous status in the year 1998. The college offers courses like Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery, Ayurveda Compounder Certificate Course and Ayurveda Mahila Health Workers Certificate Course. Admission to the BAMS course offered by this college is done based on the performance of the students in the Joint Entrance Test conducted by the Pre Ayurveda, Homeopathic and Unani Test.

Dental College:

College of Dentistry located in the city of Indore is approved by the Dental Council of India to offer BDS Course and it also offers MDS in prosthodontics, orthodontics and oral surgery courses with an intake capacity of two students each for prosthodontics and oral surgery and one student for orthodontics course. The intake capacity of the college for the BDS course is 40 students per year.

Engineering College:

Indian Institute of Technology located in Indore otherwise called as IIT, Indore is an institute of national importance established by the Government of India in the year 2009. It is one among the eight Indian Institute of Technologies working under the Ministry of Human Resource Development of the Government of India. This institute is offering Bachelor of Technology course in mechanical, electrical and computer science & engineering with an intake capacity of 120 students, which is equally divided among the three branches of engineering. Performance of the students in the IITJEE examination is used as criteria for selection of students to the UG courses offered by the institute. It is also offering Ph. D programme in the disciplines of engineering, humanities and social sciences and sciences.

Arts, Science & Commerce Colleges:

Government Holkar Science College is one of the oldest colleges in the city of Indore, which came into existence in the year 1891. This college is presently an autonomous institution offering UG and PG courses in the faculty of science. This college is also offering Ph. D in M. Phil courses in the faculty of science. The other two government colleges offer education in the faculties of arts, science and commerce under UG and PG level.

The city of Indore is acting as the commercial capital of the state of Madhya Pradesh and the city has established itself with a strong industrial base thereby offering a wide range of employment opportunities with the help of its satellite townships in Dewas and Pithampur. Since the educational institutions in this city offer the best quality education and since they are well connected through roads, students from different parts of the country visit the city for getting education.
