The subject is such that it deals with various translation programs. The subject basically includes study of translation of a paragraph or a comprehension into English or Hindi. The subject includes detailed study of the language and the way it can be translated into other language. This includes the study of basic grammar behind translation. That is why the subject is so much studied by those who think they can translate well. The subject gives an additional knowledge so that translation can be done with more ease and comfort.

The question paper has several question repeated almost every year. Out of these frequently asked questions, 2 questions are seen almost every year. These is the last two questions in the question paper which is translation of a paragraph in English to Hindi and one paragraph in Hindi to English.
Paper Pattern:
The IGNOU, Post Graduate Diploma Translation, PGDT-2, Anuvad Ka Bhashik Aur Samajik Paksh Paper is an important paper of IGNOU basic course. The paper has two sections. First section has 6 questions in it that is of 20 marks each. Out of these 6 questions, only 3 are to be answered. The section II of the question has 3 questions. All these 3 questions are compulsory and the entire section is of 40 marks.
Full marks and time allotted:
The question paper is of 100 marks only and the time given is 3 hours.
