IIT Madras provides Post Graduate Program for Executives for Visionary Leadership in Manufacturing (PGPEX-VLM).  The entrance is conducted by IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras and IIM Calcutta jointly. IIT Madras is a premium institute for engineering education and is rated in the top 10 best engineering institutes in India. IIT Madras was established in 1959 with assistance from German Government.

Visionary Leadership in Manufacturing Programme has been set up by The National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council (NMCC) which has been constituted by Government of India. It is a one year full time program with an aim to develop Leadership & Management skills along with cutting-edge technology awareness. There are about 30-35 seats in the program.

Major Attributes related to this Program:

• It is one of the most well renowned program that is jointly conceived by the Indian Institute of Management, Madras; Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata and the Indian Institute of Management, Kanpur.
• The program is sufficiently backed by the Japanese International Co-operative Agency.
• The duration of this residential based program is one year.
• The program also consists of 32 weeks of class interactions that is composed of tutorials, case studies, project work, and lab sessions from these three prestigious Institutes. This program is therefore composed of a total of 960 interaction hours.
• The program even offers 11-13 weeks of internships in several industries.
• Even a 4-6 weeks of industry visit not only in our country but in abroad.
• The program is designed to provide top management positions to those engineers that belong to the Manufacturing Units.
• The program also involves development of different management as well as leadership skills that can be balanced together in the cutting edge technology within several Industries.
• The program furthermore offers a balanced form of practical sessions along with theoretical classes. This generates high leadership’s skills within the potential candidates and therefore excellent career opportunities.

Eligibility criteria:

Candidate must have a first class engineering degree in any field. The minimum work experience required is 5 years and the maximum allowable is 10 years in the manufacturing and related sector. Though sponsored categories have no upper limit for work experience.

Admission process:

Candidates are admitted in the basis of past academic record, work experience, entrance test and a personal interview. Interview is conducted only for the candidates who clear the written test.
