Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) was established in the year 1962. At present, ITBP is involved on border guarding duties from Karakoram Pass in Ladakh to Diphu La in Arunachal Pradesh in the Western, Middle & Eastern Sector of the India-China Border. ITBP is principally a mountain trained Force that has been involving in rescue and relief operations.

ITPB is also involved in fighting terrorism in the State of Jammu & Kashmir besides providing border guarding duties. ITBP is also responsible to check illegal immigration, trans-border smuggling and crimes, as well as to provide security to sensitive installations, banks and important persons.
