The Institute of Road and Transport was set up in the year 1984 and is ranked among the best institutes of the country. The college is under the guidance of Anna University. It is located just at a half km distance from NH-47.

Courses Offered

The college offers both masters and bachelors level programs to the students. A number of engineering disciplines are taught within the campus which includes Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Electrical Engineering. The automobile engineering department holds a great position. A master in Computer Application is also offered by the college.

Placements

The college has a fully functional placement cell to look after the placement process. A number of big companies visit the campus of which mention of the few can be done such as Ashok Leyland, Brakes India, BSNL-CCC, Dalmia Cements, Design Desk India, ELGI, GDA Technologies, Greaves Limited, HCL Comnet, Honey well, IBM Global Solutions, Intel, Mahindra & Mahindra, Multi-Tech Software Systems.

Infrastructure

The institute covers an extensive land area of 350 acres. The whole campus is full of lush greenery and thus makes the environment a perfect one to carry out some serious studies.

Admission Procedure and Eligibility Criteria

50% of the total seats are reserved for the applicant belonging to the family of Transport officers. The rest of the seats are filled up through entrance test.

A minimum of 45% aggregate is required at the HS level and the candidate should be at least 18 years at the time of the test.
