K. J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies & Research holds an annual entrance exam in order to admit candidates in its Post Graduate based Diploma degree in Management, Retail Management. The test is called Somaiya Admission Test or SAT. K. J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies & Research Institute has been awarded with some of the most prestigious award of the Institute in Management by the Bombay Management Association. The Institute therefore, with no doubt is one of the best Management based Institutes in the nation. There are three steps of the admission test, namely the written part, the GD and the PI.

The Institute is one of the highest reputed and prestigious Management based Institute in the country and offers a full two year based Program, which is divided into a total of six semesters. The Institute is one of the parts of the elite Somaiya Vidyavihar, and is amongst the most recognized 33 odd Institute, which forms it. The entire stream of these Institutes is called as Mini-University. The Institute has been ranked to be the best Management based Institute and has been approved by the AICTE and is accredited by it for the past Five years by the NBA. The institute is spread over a sprawling campus that houses some of the best infrastructural facilities that include staff buildings, hostels, and departmental buildings. The college has also been ranked as the top B-School in the year 2010-11.

K. J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies & Research was established in 1981 by Karamshibhai Jethabhai Somaiya. KJ SIMSR is part of Somaiya Vidyavihar which is located in Mumbai. A large number of students interested in doing a management course in Retail Management apply for SIMSR SAT every year and the competition is really tough. PGDM (Retail Management) is a 2 year course and has been recognised by AICTE.

Eligibility criteria:

A candidate must be a graduate with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks froma recognised university. Those in their final year of graduation can also apply. The candidates who are appearing for the final examination years in the session of April-May, but however the respective candidates have to produce the original documentation proving out that they have passed the graduation with the requisite marks. This should be done on or before 31st of July, 2011; failure to do so may cancel their application forms of even the admission to this institute. Furthermore, the candidates must pass out their graduation and no leave of absence will be allowed for these kinds of candidates in order to give the graduation based examination.

Availability of Application Forms:

Forms for SIMSR SAT are expected to be available online by April End through the website simsr.somaiya.edu. Candidates after filling the online application form have to send the printout of the form along with a demand draft to the institute.

Group Discussion (GD):30 Marks
Personal Interview (PI) including relevant work experience: 50 Marks
Written Communication Test: 15 Marks
Past Academic Record: 25 Marks
Total: 200 Marks
