The KMCH College of Occupational Therapy was established in the year 1955 and the college is affiliated to Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University located at Chennai. The Tamil Nadu Government has also recognized the college. Occupational therapy involves with the treatment of disability or illness through activities that can enhance and strengthen the ability of the patient in such a way that they can perform their daily activities without any difficulty.

Course Offered:

The college is offering a four-and-half-years course on Bachelor of Occupational Therapy, which is approved by World Federation of Occupational Therapy. The course is divided into four years of academic training, which is further divided into eight semesters of six months each and the final half year is meant for internship training of student in different departments as prescribed by the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University.

Required Educational Qualification:

For entering into the BOT Course offered by the college, a candidate must have completed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized institution with a minimum aggregate of 50% of marks in Chemistry, Physics and Biology.

Admission Procedure:

The college is admitting students to the BOT course based on the marks secured by them in the Common Entrance Examination conducted by Government of Tamil Nadu and based on the guidelines issued by the government from time to time. Every year admission commences from the 15th of April and the course starts from the first week of September.

Clinical Training:

The college is offering students with hands on training in the Kovai Medical Center and Hospital attached to the college. This training is offered to the students in such a way that they get exposure to different patients in the departments of cardio-thoracic surgery, cardiology, plastic surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery and neurology.

Facilities:

The college is providing hostel facilities to the students from other states and the hostel is located at a distance of about two kilometers from the college. So, the college has arranged transportation facilities for the students to attend the college.
