Kalasalingam University was previously called as Arulmigu Kalasalingam College of Engineering and it was started in the year 1984. The founder of the institution was Mr. T. Kalasalingam, who was a freedom fighter. The college was awarded with the status of university in the year 2006 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development of Indian Government. The university is situated at the foothills of the Western Ghats in the district of Virudhunagar in Tamil Nadu. The university was established with the objective of empowerment of youth through technology. The university is admitting students to the B. Tech courses offered by it through its entrance examination conducted at all India level in all important cities in India. Kalasalingam University is offering 17 post graduate courses and nine under graduation courses apart from Master of Science in different subjects, Master of computer application and master of business administration. The university holds the pride of being the first university to offer B. Tech courses to speech and hearing impaired people. The university has framed its academic systems on the basis of choice-based credit system and it is offering excellent facilities for conducting research. It is offering twining programmes by joining hands with famous foreign universities and it is also conducting need based part-time courses both at PG and UG level for helping out working professionals. A placement cell is functioning under the university and the cell works to assess the skill set requirements of the students, co-ordinate with top rated organizations and inviting them for conducting campus recruitments in the sister institutions and in maintaining updated student profiles.
