Gujarat National Law University is shortly called as GNLU and it is a statutory university established by the Gujarat Government under the Gujarat National University Act 2003. The University is operating from the city of Gandhinagar in the Indian state of Gujarat and it is located at a distance of about 30 kms from the city of Ahmedabad.

The university officially began its functioning from the year 2004 and it is public university operating from an urban campus. The university is offering law education with recognition from the Bar Council of India and with approval from the University Grants Commission. It is functioning as a nodal agency for upliftment of legal education in the state and it is also acting as a member of Association of Indian Universities.

Objectives of GNLU:

The main objective of Gujarat National Law University is to advance and disseminate knowledge and learning of legal and law processes and their role in the development of the nation. To develop in research scholars and students, the sense of responsibility for serving the society in the area of law by developing skills with respect to law reforms, parliamentary practices, legislation, legal services, advocacy and such other matters.
