Panjab University was established in the year 1882 and the university is one among the oldest universities in India. The main campus of the university is located at Chandigarh and in this campus, 15 chairs/centers for conducting research and teaching are functioning. The campus also includes 75 research and teaching departments, the university has regional centres at Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana and Muktsar, and a rural regional centre at Kuoni, the university offers different courses through these centres.
