Panjab University was established in the year 1882 at Lahore and later relocated to Chandigarh in the year 1958. It is one of the oldest univeristies in the country. It consists of around 60 teaching and research departments. Dr. R.c. Sobti is the vice chancellor of the university. The university is committed to provide best educational facilities to the students. The sandstone campus of the university is designed by renowened French Architects. The campus of the university is spreaded in an area of approximately 550 acres.

Job Profile:

Panjab University is inviting applications from eligible and qualified candidates for filling the vacant teaching positions of Assistant Professors. Candidates will be recruited purely on temporary basis for a period of one year only. The specified position is available in the different field such as Sanskrit, Defence Studies, Mathematics, Commerce, Statistics, Public Administration, Political Scienc etc. All selected candidates will be appointed in the University School of Open Learning.

Eligibility:

Candidates must possess the minimum age limit set for the specified position. Als the age of candidate’s must not exceed the prescribed maximum age limit. In case candidates are not fulfilling this age criteria, their applications will not be accepted by the University under any circumstances. Uneligible candidtaes are advised to not to apply for the posts of Assistant Professor in Panjab University.

Educational Qualification:

Candidates should either possess Ph.D Degree with atleast 2 years of experience in teaching or research field or First class at Master’s level in appropriate branch of Engineering with atleast 5 years of experience in teaching or research field. Candidates are required to have done the prescribed qualification in the required discipline. Candidates possessing qualification less than the above specified ones, should not apply for the post of Assistant Professor as their application will be straightaway discarded by the university.

Pay Scale: Selected candidates will be provided the prescribed amount of salary i.e. Rs. 15600-39100 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 6000.

Application Fee:

Candidates (General and OBC categories candidates) are required to pay an application fee of Rs. 375 only. SC/ST candidates are required to submit an application fee of Rs. 150 only. The application fee must be paid through a Payee Bank Draft drawn in favour of the Registrar, Panjab University, Chandigarh payable at Chandigarh only.

Selection Process:

Selection process for the above specified position includes a personal interview test only. The persoanl interview test will be taken by a selection committee. This selection committee will only make the final decision on the selections of candidates.
