SRM University expanded as Sri Ramaswamy Memorial University is a private university that came into existence in the year 1985. It is a co-educational university belonging to the state of Tamil Nadu with four campuses in the same state and one campus in Modinagar near Delhi. Before earning the status of university, it was functioning under Anna University with its name as SRM Engineering College and it earned the status of Deemed University in the year 2003-04. Year 2006, is an important year in the history of the university since during this year, it earned the status of a full-fledged university under section 3 of the University Grant Commission Act 1956.
SRM University is offering education through its College of Science & Humanities, School of Management, College of medicine and College of Engineering and many departments are also functioning under the university. As mentioned earlier, the university has four campuses at Tamil Nadu namely Kattankulathur Campus, Ramapuram Campus, Vadapalani Campus and Modi Nagar Campus and it offers various UG, PG and Ph. D courses in engineering, management, science and medicinal disciplines through these campuses.
