Veer Kunwar Singh University came into existence in the year 1992 on the 22nd of October and the university was given this name in honor of the distinguished freedom fighter and famous national hero Veer Kunwar Singh.
The educational institutions functioning under the university are spread over the backward districts of the state of Bihar namely Rohtas, Kaimur, Buxar and Bhojpur. The university meets the educational requirements of these backward areas of Bihar through 47 affiliated colleges, which includes three law colleges, 17 constituent colleges and 20 post-graduate departments.
