The National Institute of Testing Bureau of University Grants Commission conducts the NET (National Eligibility Test). The motive of NET is to determine the eligibility of lectureship and for award of JRF (Junior Research Fellowship). The archaeology is divided into two papers paper II and paper III in which the former is just based on objective questions.

Type of questions:

The paper has 50 objective questions each of 2 marks making the paper total of 100 marks. 75 minutes are provided for solving the 50 objective questions giving the student an average of 1 and a half minutes for every question. The type of objectives asked is:

•    Multiple type
•    Matching type
•    True/false type
•    Assertion reasoning type

Generally the multiple type questions are the most whereas the rest are comparatively less than it.

Syllabus:

There are 8 units of the archaeology second paper along with the third paper and they both fall under the core group. They cover portions of the history of Indian archaeology, chronology and dating along with cultural and geological dimension of man. There are details about the Harrapan valley and even the flood productions, chrono-cultural productions, the coinage system and some details about the research work of India.
