Databases are the most important foundation for any companies that work on the database-driven software. It is used for organizing data on huge computer software programs. Software may include wide range of tables, programs, and many other options that gives a quick response to the users’ commands. The database acts as the backbone for storing the data required for specific commands.

Professionals who design these databases for different large and small scale firms are called database architects. Database architects are suppose to occupy important positions inside a company. They need to possess a minimum of 8 to 10 years experience in the same field. They are responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the database systems that support many crucial corporate systems. Their primary functions include creation of tables, reduce duplication of data, combine various system logic, etc.

Qualifying Exam

Most of the companies will require candidates with post graduation in computer science or MIS with relevant experiences. For an entry level job they need a bachelor’s degree in related field. The certification courses in standard database system are a plus point. They require some training in the same also. Those with business degree or diploma in related field can become a database architect provided that they have done a post graduation in database architecture or system design.

Who is eligible to apply?

Those who have completed the higher secondary education can join for the bachelor’s degree course in computer science or IT. There are numerous universities in India which offer these courses. Training in the standard database systems will give many opportunities for the entry level jobs. To become a successful database architect in a company one needs to pursue master’s degree in the related subject or in MIS and also should have some experience in the same.

Experience in the areas like system design, programming, business intelligence, etc. are essential for them. Most of the companies use the standard database platform like Oracle, IBM DB2 or Microsoft SQL server. The professionals with thorough knowledge in any of these platforms are more suitable to perform as a database architect. It is also important for them to keep up to date with latest technologies in database systems.
