National Institute of Oceanic Technology is an autonomous body which came into existence in the year 1993 under Government of India. Ministry of Earth Sciences is the parent agency of the institute. Dr. M. A. Ahmad is the Director of the institute. The headquarter of the institute is located at Chennai. Developing scientific understanding of oceans, is the prime objective of the institute. The institute also aims to develop the technology related to the environmentally sound applications of biological resources. The institute performs all its functioning under the administrative control of the Governing Council and Director.
Job Profile:
National Institute of Oceanic Technology invites online applications from eligible Indian Nationals for filling up the vacant positions of Project Scientist-I, Project Scientist-II and Project Scientist-III. Candidates will be recruited or deputed on the specified positions purely on contract basis for a fixed period of time. The period of contract may be renewed by institute as per their requirment or on seeing the performance of candidates.
1. Recruitment of Project Scientist-I:
No. of posts: Only 83 posts are available.
Age Limit: Maximum age limit set for the post is 35 years.
Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in the concerned discipline or equivalent from a recognized institute or university with minimum 60% marks in aggregate. However, Master’s degree from a recognized university is desirable for the following post.
Pay Scale: Consolidated salary of Rs. 43300-48100 per month.
2. Recruitment of Project Scientist-II:
No. of posts: Only 31 posts are available.
Age Limit: Maximum age limit set for the post is 40 years.
Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in the concerned discipline or equivalent from a recognized institute or university with minimum 60% marks in aggregate. Minimum 3 years experience in the relevant field is also required to be possessed by the candidates.
Pay Scale: Consolidated salary of Rs. 45500-50500 per month.
3. Recruitment of Project Scientist-III:
No. of posts: Only 1 post is available.
Age Limit: Maximum age limit set for the post is 50 years.
Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in the concerned discipline or equivalent from a recognized institute or university with minimum 60% marks in aggregate. Minimum 7 years experience in Marine Engineering field is also required to be possessed by the candidates.
Pay Scale: Consolidated salary of Rs. 47300-52600 per month.
Selection Process:
Final selection of best suitable candidates for the above specified positions, will be made through the conduct of an Interview Test with the Selection Committee. Candidates are required to perform well in the interview test for securing their selection on their desired position.

Candidates will be provided an online registration number after successfull submission of their online application form. Candidates should take a printout of the registration number and send it alongwith the copies of required certificates to the below mentioned address.
