Birsa Agricultural University was established in the year 1981 under the Government of India. The university is located at Ranchi, Jharkhand. Dr. N. N. Singh is the Vice Chancellor of the university while Dr. S. M. Prasad is on the position of Chancellor. The formal inauguration of the university was done by the then Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi.
