National Institute of Science Communication & Information Resources was established in the year 2002 after the merging of National Institute or Science Communication and Indian National Scientific Documentation Centre. The institute is considered as one of the premier information science institute present in India. The institute comes under the control of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. The institute provides the Associateship in Information Science degree. The institute is capable of serving the society using modem IT infrastructure.

Job Profile:

Applications are invited from eligible and qualified candidates for filling up the vacant posts of Scientist/ Senior Scientist in National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources. Only eligible Indian Nationals are invited to apply for the specified positions.

Eligibility:

Scientists: Candidates are required to have age less than the prescribed maximum age limit set i.e. 32 years as on 10 April 2012.

Senior Scientists: Candidates are required to have age less than the prescribed maximum age limit set i.e. 37 years as on 10 April 2012.

Relaxation in the upper age limit will be provided to the candidates belonging to the reserved categories as per the rules of Government of India only.

Educational Qualification:

Scientist: Candidates are required to possess Ph.D. degree in Engineering or Science in the concerned discipline. No experience is needed for Ph.D. degree holders. Candidates with M.E. or M.Tech degree in the concerned discipline are also eligible to apply.

Senior Scientist: Ph.D. degree holders (Engineering) in the concerned discipline with no experience, are eligible for the post. Ph.D. (Science) candidates should possess minimum 2 years experience, are also eligible for applying for the specified posts.

Pay Scale:

Scientists: Rs. 15600-39100 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 6600.
Senior Scientists: Rs. 15600-39100 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 7600.

Application Fee:

Candidates are required to pay an application fee of Rs. 100 in the form of a Demand Draft only. The demand draft should be drawn in favour of Director, NISCAIR payable at New Delhi. No application fee is need to be paid by the candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD candidates. Women candidates are also exempted from the payment of this application fee.

How to apply: Eligible candidates should apply online from 10 March 2012 onwards. Candidates are required to apply online only at the official website of National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources. Printout of the completed application form should be sent alongwith the attested copies of certificates in a sealed cover superscribed as “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF SCIENTIST (POST CODE and CATEGoRY)”.
