Council of Scientific and Industrial Research was established in the year 1942 as an autonomous body under the Government of India. Prime Minister of India is the chairman of the council. Professor Sameer K. Brahmachari is the Director General of the council. It has a staff of around 17 thousand people. The council is located at Anusandhan Bhawan, Rafi Marg. The council includes the research and development activities in various fields such as Structural Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemicals, Petroleum and Aerospace Engineering.

B.Tech or B.E. with atleast 55% marks in aggregate is required for the post of Senior Research Fellowship and Ph.D. degree is required for the post of SRF (Extended) in Council of Scientific and Industrial Research.
