Sri Venkateswara University one of the oldest universities of the country was established in 1954. The university situated in Tirupati offers aspirants with around seventy post graduate degree, doctoral, post graduate diploma, and certificate and diploma courses. An aspirant can join the university at any point of his/her college education. Every year the university conducts a combined entrance test for the admission of a new batch. Structure of Sri Venkateswara University M.Sc. Food Technology Entrance Test(SVURPGCET)

Sri Venkateswara University M.Sc. Food Technology Entrance Test is an objective type test with 100 multiple choice questions. The duration of the exam is 90 minutes and no minus marking is there for wrong answers.

Section A

Basic food groups – Food constituents, nutrients, and Food requirements

Section B

Fundamentals of Food Science, Chemistry, Processing and preparation

Section C

Nutrition for growth and development – Food spoilage and preservation

Eligibility Criteria

Students who possess bachelor’s degree in B.Sc. Home Science / B.Sc with any of the following: Biochemistry / Chemistry / Microbiology / Aquaculture / Fishery Science / Zoology / Botany / Biotechnology / Horticulture / BVSc. / B.Tech. with Food Technology /  B.Sc. (Ag.) / Dairying with an aggregate of not less than 40% are eligible for the Sri Venkateswara University M.Sc. Food Technology Entrance Test (SVURPGCET). Students who are appearing for the final examination are also eligible to write the test provided they fulfill all the criteria at the time of admission.

How to apply?

The application forms for the test are available in some of the post offices and banks which are mentioned in the brochure of the university. Fully filled application forms along with the Xerox copies of Proof of Date of birth, Proof for claims of reservation under Caste/PH/NCC/NSS/Games & Sports/CAP, Marks statement of first or second year of qualifying examination should be posted so as to reach The Convener, SVURPGCET-2011, Directorate of Admissions, S.V. University, Tirupati-517 502 on or before the last date of submission. A demand draft of Rs.350/- is to be attached with the application form. A relaxation of 5 days from the last date will be given to all the candidates, provided they pay a fine of Rs.500/-.
