Punjab Police is a government agency which was formed in the year 1861. Punjab Police has an employee strength of 30 thousand employee. Mr. P. S. Gill is the present Director General of Punjab Police. The main objective of Punjab Police is to prevent and detect the criminal activities in the state of Punjab. Maintenance of Law and Order in the state of Punjab is also on of its another main objective. Punjab Police has its headquarter located at Chandigarh. A police Training School was set up in the year 1891 at Phillaur.

Job Profile:

Eligible and qualified candidates (both Male and Female candidates) are invited to apply online for fillng up the position of Sub Inspector in Punjab Police (District Cadre). Interested candidates must follow the eligibility conditions set for the post in order to apply for it. Candidates are advised to ensure their eligibility in advance before applying in Punjab Police.

Eligibility:

The minimum age limit set for the post of Sub Inspector is 18 years as on 1 January 2011.
The maximum age limit set for the post of Sub Inspector is 25 years as on 1 January 2011.

Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for the candidates belonging to SC/ST and Backward Class candidates as per the rules of Government of India.

Physical Standard:

For Male Candidates: Minimum Height: 5 Feet and 7 Inches.
For Female Candidates: Minimum Height: 5 Feet and 3 Inches.

Educational Qualification:

The minimum educational qualification required for the post of Sub Inspector in Punjab Police is Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university as on 1 January 2011. Canddiates must have passed Matriculation examination with Punjab as one of the compulsory or elective subjects from a recognized board. All interested candidates are required to possess the minimum educational qualification specified above for applying in Punjab Police.

For Male candidates: Only 120 posts are available.
For Female candidates: Only 30 posts are available.

Pay Scale: Selected candidates will be given the prescribed amount of salary of Rs. 10300-34800 + Grade Pay of Rs. 3600.

Application Fee:

Candidates are required to send a Bank Draft of Rs. 500 as application fee alongwith their completed application form. Candidates belonging to SC/ST categories are required to submit an application fee of Rs. 300 only. The Bank Draft is need to be made in favour of Chairman Recruitment Board for Sub Inspector (District Cadre) payable at Chandigarh.
