The Tamil Paper I of Matriculation Exam is a two and half hour paper of 100 marks. The student has to answer all the questions in a separate answer booklet. It is important to read the question thoroughly before answering it in order to avoid losing marks due to misunderstanding of the questions.

There are two sections in the paper. Each section has a certain number of compulsory questions to be answered. All the questions asked in the paper will be from the syllabus itself. It is important to pay special attention to grammar and language skills while writing the paper. You should refrain from writing elaborate answers where final details are not required. In case of objective questions you can expect to choose the right alternative, match, true or false, complete the blank etc. The will be essays and letter of both formal and informal nature in the paper. There will be internal choices when it comes to the composition section.
