University of Pune was established in 1948 in Ganeshkhind Road, Pune, Maharashtra. The University has more than 300 research institutes and more than 100 affiliated colleges offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The University of Pune offers Ph.D courses in different stream through an entrance test.

Structure of University of Pune Ph.D Law entrance Exam

There will be two papers for entrance exam. The first paper or Paper 1 will be General Aptitude Test. The pattern of this paper will be objective type questions. The total marks for this exam is 100. The candidate should obtain a minimum of 50% to pass this test. The candidates who clear this paper are only eligible for appearing the second paper or Paper 2.  The second paper will be subject specified test. This test will be conducted by the Department of Law, Pune University. The total marks of paper 2 will be 100. In this paper 20 questions will be objective type question on subjects in law. The paper 2 will consists of theoretical descriptive questions for 80 marks.

Eligibility Criteria

The following candidates can apply for Ph.D Law in University of Pune

  • Masters degree in law with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognized University
  • Sponsored Persons working as Assistant Director (or above) in National laboratories or Institutes.
  • Persons who have 15 years of experience in related fields and have exceptional abilities. These candidates should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks for graduation.
  • Graduate senior citizens of 60 years and above.
  • Foreign candidates should obtain a minimum of 50% or equivalent GPA.

How to apply?

The candidate should apply online for Ph.D law entrance exam. For this, the candidate has to first register and create a user name and password. This username and pass word will be mailed to candidates registered email id. The candidate should click “online Application Form” link. The candidate can pay the amount as direct cash deposit to any HDFC bank or Bank of Maharashtra. The candidate can also pay through demand draft from any nationalized bank. The demand draft should be taken in favor of Registrar, University of Pune”, payable at Pune. Click the submit button after filling the form.

How to fill the Form?

The candidate should read the instructions properly before filling the form. If the candidate is submitting the form through demand draft, then the candidate should enter all the details of bank carefully. If the candidate is directly paying cash then they should use the print out of that challan to deposit the cash in bank. The candidate should submit the stamped copy of challan along with the printed application form to University of Pune.

When the candidate clicks the submit button, the candidate will be directed to print preview page. The candidate should not take print out of this page. They should click update button after checking the accuracy of the information. The candidate should click Confirm and Print button and take the print out of the application form. The candidate should submit the print out of the application form, challan /DD and the required documents to printout of the Application Form the Deputy Registrar, P. G. Admission Section, University of Pune, Pune - 411 007 by hand or post. The candidate should provide the application form number, name and address on the back side of the demand draft. The candidate should affix a recent photograph in the space provided. The candidate should put the signature in the space provided.

Study Plan

The candidate should refer as many books as possible in aptitude, reasoning and English language. The candidates should find short cuts to solve the numerical ability questions. The candidate should refer to old question papers available in market and internet. For paper two, the candidate should divide the syllabus into small topics and try to cover each topic separately. The candidate should join coaching classes if they find difficulty in studying alone.

How and Where To Get the Results?

The candidates who clear the first paper or Paper 1 can find their results published by P.G Admission Section. The result of Paper 2 can be collected from Department of law and also from P.G. Admission Section.

Score Validity

The score of University of Pune Ph.D Law entrance exam is valid for one year.
