UPSC, Special Class Railway Apprentice Exam, Mathematics Papers
Special Class Railway Apprentice Exam is exam conducted by UPSC. The selected candidates get admission to the highly reputed mechanical department of the Indian Railways as an engineer. Candidates selected in SCRA get recruited to the Class-I service of Indian Railways and Mathematics is the most vital subject in the exam.
Paper Description:
The Mathematics paper of SCRA is based on the syllabus of class 12 or equivalent. The paper deals with the problems on the various algebraic equations and analytic geometry. This particular paper also has its importance because the Mechanical Engineering is nothing but the advance form of mathematics and this paper determines the capability of candidates appearing in the exam.

The Mathematics paper consist problems on Algebra, Matrices and Determinants, Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus, Differential equations, Vectors and its applications, Statistics, Probability, Trigonometry, Analytic Geometry. The questions asked in SCRA are very well designated. Candidates should thoroughly revise Algebra, Vector and its applications as they are asked in the paper every year.
Paper Pattern:
Special Class Railway Apprentice Exam, Mathematics paper conducted by UPSC is an objective paper with multiple choices consisting 100 questions. Candidates should attempt all the questions,each question carries 2 marks. Also, for each wrong answer, one-third of the marks assigned to the question are deducted as penalty. If a candidate gives more than one answer, it will be treated as a wrong answer.
Total Marks and Time allotted:
The total marks of the paper are 200 and the time in which it is to be answered is 2 hours.
