Need for securing a standard percentage!

The general increase in the number of students opting for the commerce subjects both at the graduation and post graduation levels have forced the management to raise the minimum percentage of marks which are needed to secure admission to various commerce subjects. Nowadays, the general cut off marks for the commerce subjects (B.Com) is around 65-70 percentage. Even though the top most colleges opt this, but on the other hand the colleges even in rural areas are also opting this trend. This has also forced the universities to also follow this and increase the percentage of students in to various courses. Even though the candidates opt for courses such as BBA or BCA the employment opportunities in this area is not guaranteed when compared to that of B.Com. The management courses and other computer courses are also being in the general picture but the opportunities in the area of commerce have overtaken these courses.

Even though, the management courses are also in to picture such as BBA, MCA, MBA etc, in the present scenario, these courses are being less adopted.  The admissions for the courses such as BBA and BCA have come down to around 25 percentages according to a recent survey. As already mentioned nowadays even the most studious individuals are also changing their preferences to commerce studies.

Will this trend continue for ever?

There is no guarantee that this trend relating to the commerce subjects will be permanent. There is a doubt that whether this course will have the same fate that of professionalized courses such as MBA, engineering etc.  Hence it is crucial to maintain the same educational quality in these areas. The commerce students should join the post graduate courses in the same field which will in a way help or produce more individuals to enter in to the teaching field related to commerce. This will in a way enhance the quality of the education of all the students.
